AMAZING experience with an amazing guide!!!! 10000% recommended! We went to Ishigaki in August and booked the turtle expedition on WhatsApp after chatting with our super nice guide, Zohar. We were with a lovely group of people, and Zohar explained everything really clearly and made everyone feel comfortable. We were able to see up to five turtles, lots of different fish, and even some small sharks! Zohar is incredibly thoughtful and respectful of both the group and nature. He always manages to find the best spots to see amazing things. And the videos and pictures he took are absolutely beautiful! We also stopped to eat on a beautiful beach, and in the afternoon we went to several different viewpoints to discover more of the island. I think I also had the best ice cream of my life! We had an amazing English-speaking snorkeling tour! It was our first snorkeling experience, but Zohar made us really comfortable and we felt very safe under his guidance. We managed to see Sea turtles and lots of fish! Zohar was very patient, and the tour felt at our pace. We were a small group of 6 people. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ For those looking for the quick version: this is an absolute must-do in Ishigaki, and I genuinely wouldn’t do it with anyone else. Zohar was incredibly knowledgeable about the island, the location and the wildlife. I hoped we might see a sea turtle, but I honestly didn’t expect to see them so close. An incredible experience and an easy 5 stars. For those who want a little more detail… The service from Discover Ishigaki started well before the tour itself. I messaged them to see if there was any chance of fitting us in during what was a pretty difficult few days for scheduling. One typhoon had just passed, another was on the way, and we were only on Ishigaki for a few days at the end of a big adventure across Japan. They could not have been more accommodating. We had different needs and swimming capabilities within our group, and they made sure everyone felt safe while still giving us the experience we’d hoped for. They worked around the weather, the tides, our schedule and our flight off the island to find a time that worked. And what a way to end our trip! On the day, Zohar picked us up from our hotel. He’s a genuinely lovely guy with a brilliant sense of humour, which added so much to the experience. He immediately made my daughters feel completely at ease. Rather than feeling like a regimented organised tour, it felt more like exploring the island with a knowledgeable friend who happened to know exactly where all the good stuff was! All of the snorkelling equipment was provided and prepared for us, so getting ready and into the water was quick and easy. Once we were in, Zohar took the time to make sure everyone was comfortable, confident and safe before we headed out. Within the first 10 minutes, he spotted our first sea turtle. I would have completely missed it because I was already mesmerised by all the fish! Zohar clearly knew exactly where to look and, importantly, how to behave around the wildlife so that we could enjoy the experience without disturbing it. As other groups started arriving and the area became busier, Zohar moved us to another spot. That’s where we found another two turtles. I thought the photos and experience with the first turtle were good, but this was something else. Just wow. Watching these animals swimming so calmly and majestically right in front of us was genuinely incredible. Zohar then showed us more of the reef before we headed back to say goodbye to our first turtle. By this point the tide had gone out, which made the swim back brilliant in a completely different way. We were scooting around the coral, watching tiny colourful fish darting in and out everywhere. There was something new to see every few metres. Even when the snorkelling finished, the experience wasn’t over. Zohar’s wife drove us back and kept stopping along the way to show us different sights around the island. We ended up with some absolutely incredible photographs and saw parts of beautiful Ishigaki that we simply wouldn’t have experienced otherwise. Discover Ishigaki didn’t just take us snorkelling. They gave us one of those experiences we’ll remember when we think back on our whole trip to Japan. If you’re visiting Ishigaki and wondering whether to book this, do it. Zohar was an amazing guide. The preparation, snorkeling itself and follow up was outstanding, by taking care of all the details. Groups are small and therefore very personalized. It was our first snorkeling experience and having it in English was a plus as it is not so easy to find English tours in Ishigaki. Additionally he spent some time during the driving explaining very interesting facts, recommendations and curiosities about the Ishigaki island and in general about Japan. Eine schöne Schnorchel-Tour Unser guide kannte die besten Spots, wir haben viele Fische und auch Schildkröten gesehen. Er hat alles gegeben um uns die Vielfalt des Meeres zu zeigen und hat gleichzeitig noch schöne Aufnahmen von uns gemacht. When doing research while planning our trip to ISHIGAKI I found about Discovery ISHIGAKI Tours, the response to my questions about tour options where answered quickly and to the detail. The snorkeling and island tour was great! We were a small group of seven people and we saw many fishes, snakes and turtles during the snorkeling. Zohar showed us beautiful places on the island and the tour was in English, so we could understand the explanations. Thank you, Zohar, it was a great experience!
