Visiting Ishigaki on a cruise ship means working with a fixed amount of time and a schedule you cannot change. The Ishigaki cruise port sits close to the city center, which gives us a real logistical advantage when planning your shore excursion. Over years of guiding cruise passengers on the island, we have learned how to plan around this kind of schedule so that visitors can enjoy a real activity and some sightseeing without any risk of missing their ship’s departure.
The cruise port sits at a specific distance from Ishigaki’s snorkeling beaches, hiking areas, and main sightseeing spots, and travel times between these locations are fairly consistent. Knowing these travel times well lets us plan a route that fits comfortably within the time available, with enough margin built in so that small delays do not become a problem. For shore excursions, we tend to choose locations that are closer to the port or along more direct routes, rather than the more spread-out locations sometimes used on full-day independent tours.
Weather is something we cannot control, but we can plan for it. Because cruise passengers cannot simply reschedule for another day, we keep an eye on conditions before each excursion and have alternative plans ready. If conditions at one snorkeling or hiking location are not suitable on a given day, we can usually shift to a different location nearby rather than cancelling the activity altogether. The goal is always to make sure your limited time on the island is used well, even if the original plan needs to change.
Because shore excursions are built around a fixed return time, every part of the day — from the chosen activity to the sightseeing stops afterward — is planned with that deadline in mind. This means being realistic about what can be done well in the time available, rather than trying to fit in too much and rushing through it.
Even with a tighter schedule, the same care for Ishigaki’s environment applies. Whether snorkeling along the reef or walking through a coastal or forest area, we follow the same reef-safe and Leave No Trace practices used on our full-day tours. A short visit is still a visit, and we try to make sure it leaves the island the way we found it.
Between your main activity and your return to the port, your guide will take you to some of Ishigaki's most scenic locations. From coastal viewpoints and quiet beaches to local landmarks and hidden island spots, these stops are chosen to give you the best possible picture of the island in the time available.
Here are some of the locations we frequently visit during our tours:
Yes. Every excursion is planned around your ship's specific departure time, with a built-in time buffer so unexpected delays don't put your return at risk.
Getting you back to port on time is our top priority on every cruise-passenger tour, and we track your ship's schedule throughout the day.
Pickup and drop-off both happen directly at Ishigaki cruise port, so there's no need to arrange separate transportation.
Please share your ship's arrival and departure schedule on the days before your arrival to Ishigaki (final schedule) so we can plan your tour timing around it precisely.
We actively monitor cruise ship schedules and will adjust your pickup timing if your ship arrives earlier or later than planned.
If you become aware of a schedule change after booking, please contact us as soon as possible so we can update your tour plan accordingly.
If your ship skips the Ishigaki port due to weather, scheduling changes, or any other reason outside your control, we offer a full refund — no cancellation fee applies in this situation.
Please contact us as soon as you're aware your ship won't be docking so we can process this quickly.
Both options include island sightseeing afterward and are designed to fit comfortably within a cruise stop.
Choose beach snorkeling if you want time in Ishigaki's coral reefs, or choose hiking and walking trails if you prefer mountain viewpoints and jungle scenery.
If you're unsure which suits your group, contact us before booking and we can help you decide based on your time in port, group makeup, and interests.
Yes. Both the snorkeling and hiking options are designed for beginners and guided throughout by your guide, with no prior experience required.
Safety briefings and technique guidance are included before either activity begins.
This tour is suitable for guests up to 70 years old. Anyone aged 60 or above will need to complete a short medical questionnaire during booking so we can plan the day appropriately for your group.
Yes. Whichever activity you choose, all necessary equipment is provided — snorkeling gear (mask, snorkel, fins, life jacket) or basic hiking support — so you don't need to bring or pack your own.
Lunch is included only on the full-day excursion. The half-day option does not include a meal, so plan accordingly around your time in port.
No, we accept cash only, and we accept both US Dollars and Japanese Yen.
Most guests withdraw USD directly on the ship before arrival, which is usually the easiest option.
If you do need to exchange currency on the island, please let us know in advance when booking — we'll need to stop at an ATM or exchange location during your tour, since drop-off happens directly at the port and there won't be time to stop afterward.
